Il Gran Premio di Thailandia, disputato per la prima volta sul circuito di Buriram, ha lasciato l’amaro in bocca ai piloti del Forward Racing Team.

Stefano Manzi, dopo una delle sue tenaci partenze, non è riuscito a concludere la gara: il pilota riminese ha recuperato ben dieci posizioni in un solo giro, per poi finire nella ghiaia, terminando anzitempo un weekend che avrebbe meritato un finale migliore, sia per lui che per il Team.

Dall’altro lato del box Isaac Viñales ha portato a termine una gara sofferta, sia per le alte temperature che per il feeling con la moto, non perfetto per tutti i tre giorni di gare.

Il prossimo appuntamento iridato vedrà protagonisti i piloti del Forward Racing Team in Giappone, sul Circuito di Motegi tra due settimane.

PTT THAILAND GRAND PRIX 2018 – SUNDAY

The Grand Prix of Thailand, held for the first time on the circuit of Buriram, left a bitter taste in the mouth of the riders of the Forward Racing Team.

Stefano Manzi, after one of his strong starts, was unable to finish the race: the rider from Rimini recovered ten positions in a single lap, and then ended up in the gravel, finishing prematurely a weekend that deserved a better ending, both for him and for the team.

On the other side of the box, Isaac Viñales completed a difficult race, both for the high temperatures and the feeling with the bike, which was not perfect for all three days of racing.

The next round of the championship will see the Forward Racing Team riders in Japan, at the Motegi Circuit in two weeks’ time.

E’ stato un sabato sottotono quello trascorso dal Forward Racing Team a Buriram, in Thailandia.

Stefano Manzi non è riuscito a compiere un giro di qualifica mettendo in fila tutti i suoi migliori parziali: domani gli spetterà la nona fila di partenza, ma prevale l’ottimismo dato dal suo passo gara, comunque costante rispetto a chi gli starà vicino in griglia. Domani una buona partenza potrà dargli la possibilità di recuperare parecchie posizioni e ottenere un risultato positivo.

Isaac Viñales, invece, ha fatto più fatica ad adattarsi al nuovo circuito, non riuscendo a trovare totalmente il feeling con la moto: lo spagnolo ha, in ogni caso, completato parecchi giri, raccogliendo dati importanti, che verranno analizzati per trovare la migliore soluzione per la gara di domani.

Si partirà alle ore 4:10, 09:10 ora locale, con il Warm Up che anticiperà la gara, che prenderà il via alle ore 07:20, 12:20 ora locale.

PTT THAILAND GRAND PRIX 2018 – SATURDAY

The Forward Racing Team’s performance in Buriram, Thailand, was an unlucky one in this Saturday.

Stefano Manzi was not able to complete a qualifying lap putting all his best partials in line: tomorrow he will start from the ninth row on the starting grid, but the optimism given by his race pace prevails, however more constant than those who will be near him on starting grid. Tomorrow a good start will give him the chance to recover several positions and get a positive result.

Isaac Viñales, on the other hand, had more trouble on adapting to the new circuit, not being able to find the full feeling with the bike: the Spaniard has, in any case, completed several laps, collecting important data, which will be analyzed to find the best solution for tomorrow’s race.

The race will start at 4:10 a.m., 09:10 a.m. local time, with the Warm Up that will anticipate the race that will start at 07:20 a.m., 12:20 p.m. local time.

Il venerdì di prove libere del Gran Premio di Thailandia ha finalmente dato la possibilità ai piloti del Forward Racing Team, Stefano Manzi e Isaac Viñales di provare il nuovo circuito di Buriram.

Stefano Manzi, nel turno del mattino, è stato vittima di una scivolata dopo solo tre giri, mentre nel pomeriggio ha compiuto 20 giri, chiudendo a poco più di sette decimi dalla Top 10. Il pilota riminese gradisce parecchio questo nuovo tracciato e, insieme alla sua squadra, nelle FP3 di domani mattina, tenterà di ridurre nuovamente il gap da chi lo precede, per essere pronto e veloce nelle qualifiche del pomeriggio che assegneranno il posto in griglia di partenza per la gara di domenica.

Isaac Viñales, invece, è tornato in sella, dopo il forfait della scorsa gara di Aragon: oltre che conoscere e studiare la nuova pista, lo spagnolo ha potuto testare le proprie condizioni fisiche che, fortunatamente, si sono rivelate buone, in quanto il dolore al braccio, durante la guida, sembra ormai sparito. Anche per lui, domani, ci sarà da concentrarsi sul setting della Suter MMX2, così da essere il più competitivo possibile nel turno di qualifica.

Il sabato del Gran Premio di Thailandia avrà inizio alle ore 5:55, 10:55 ora locale, con le FP3, mentre alle ore 10:05, 15:05 ora locale, prenderanno il via le Qualifiche Ufficiali.

PTT THAILAND GRAND PRIX 2018 – FRIDAY

The Friday of free practice of the Grand Prix of Thailand has finally given the opportunity to the riders of the Forward Racing Team, Stefano Manzi and Isaac Viñales to try the new circuit of Buriram.

Stefano Manzi, in the morning session, was victim of a crash after only three laps, while in the afternoon he completed 20 laps, finishing less than a second from the Top 10. The rider from Rimini likes this new track a lot and, together with his team, in the tomorrow morning  FP3, will try to reduce the gap from those who precede him, to be ready and fast in the afternoon qualifying session that will assign the place on the grid for Sunday’s race.

Isaac Viñales, however, is back on track, after the forfeit of the last race in Aragon: in addition to getting to know and study the new track, the Spaniard was able to test his physical condition, which, fortunately, have proved good, as the pain of the arm, while driving, now seems to be disappeared. Also him, tomorrow, will have to focus on the setting of the Suter MMX2, so as to be as competitive as possible in the qualifying round.

The Saturday of the Grand Prix of Thailand will start at 5:55, 10:55 local time, with the FP3, while at 10:05, 15:05 local time, will kick off the Official Qualifying.

“Finally Stefano and Isaac have had the chance to try this new circuit: both like it a lot and are positive for the rest of the weekend.

Stefano, after a small crash in the morning session, worked well with the team and finished the FP2s in growth, closing just seven tenths of a second from the Top 10. Tomorrow he will try to reduce his time continuing the work on the setting of the bike, so as to be ready to gain a good placement on the grid for Sunday.

Si correrà sui 4.554 m del moderno Chang International Circuit, tracciato sul quale si disputerà per la prima volta una gara del Motomondiale.

Entrambi i piloti del Team sono ottimisti e curiosi di misurarsi su questo nuovo circuito, tutto da scoprire, dove troveranno un clima caldo e umido, simile a quello che caratterizza il GP in Malesia.

PTT THAILAND GRAND PRIX 2018 – CHANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT

This weekend’s Grand Prix of Thailand will be the first of four overseas events involving the Forward Racing Team’s riders Stefano Manzi and Isaac Viñales.

The race will take place on the 4,554 m of the modern Chang International Circuit, where a MotoGP race will be held for the first time.

Both riders of the Team are optimistic and curious to compete on this new circuit, to be completely discovered, where they will find a warm and humid weather, similar to that which characterizes the GP in Malaysia.

The three-day of Thai race will start on Friday, October 5th at 5:55 a.m., 10:55 a.m. local time, when the FP1 will start.

“It will be a particular weekend, where we will all have to deal with a new circuit, to be learned immediately, starting with the Friday morning free practices. We will certainly find high temperatures and a lot of humidity, let’s just hope it doesn’t rain. We still have to start to run and ride, trying to understand as soon as possible the track and analyze the times we’re going to record in order to set the weekend’s work”.

Si è conclusa in maniera positiva per il Forward Racing Team la giornata di test presso il Motorland Circuit di Aragon.

In seguito al weekend di gara, che non ha permesso ai due alfieri di portare a casa punti utili, la squadra non si è  persa d’animo, ha voltato pagina e si è dedicata al lavoro sul prototipo F2 con il pilota Lorenzo Lanzi.

Nonostante il fortissimo vento che per l’intera giornata ha soffiato sulla pista, rallentando le prestazioni generali di tutti i piloti e che ha concesso una tregua solo nel tardo pomeriggio, Lorenzo Lanzi ha registrato un miglior tempo di 1.56.4 concludendo ben 83 giri.

Forward Racing Team official test with MV Agusta in Aragon

It’s ended in a positive way for the Forward Racing Team the day of testing at the Motorland Circuit of Aragon.

Following the race weekend, which did not allow the two bishops to bring home useful points, the team has not lost heart, has turned the page and is dedicated to working on the prototype Mv Agusta F2 with the rider Lorenzo Lanzi.

Despite the strong wind that blew on the track for the whole day, slowing down the overall performance of all riders and that allowed a break only in the late afternoon, Lorenzo Lanzi recorded a best time of 1.56.4 ending 83 laps.

“The team’s work today has focused mainly on the geometry of the bike, and the general comments are very positive, as well as the data collected have provided us with a good basis. The project is certainly young and has yet to grow, but overall the day is to be considered satisfying with good ideas on the work to be done in the next test”.

“The day went very well, it was really productive and I think the test was really complete. We tested the suspension, a new type of tyre, the saddle positions, and we also worked on the steering angle.  The amount of work was great and I’m happy to have successfully completed all the needs of today. Si è concluso in maniera sfortunata il weekend del Gran Premio di Aragòn per il Forward Racing Team.

Nonostante tutti gli sforzi possibili e la determinazione dimostrata fino all’ultimo, Isaac Viñales ha alzato bandiera bianca, proprio a ridosso della gara: per non infiammare ulteriormente il braccio dolorante, lo spagnolo, insieme al Team, ha deciso di non gareggiare, così da poter recuperare il più possibile per la prossima gara in Thailandia.

Stefano Manzi, invece, dopo una buona partenza dalla decima fila, ottenuta a causa della penalizzazione attribuitagli a Misano, ha commesso un piccolo errore alla curva 4, nel corso del primo giro, cadendo e terminando anzitempo quella che poteva essere una gara di rimonta entusiasmante.

Il prossimo appuntamento iridato vedrà protagonisti i piloti del Forward Racing Team nell’inedita tappa thailandese per il Ptt Thailand Grand Prix, presso il Chang International Circuit di Buriram.

“Purtroppo lasciamo la Spagna senza portare a casa punti, dopo un weekend deludente.

Isaac ha dato prova del suo potenziale nelle FP1 del venerdì, quando, nonostante non fosse al top fisicamente, aveva subito migliorato il suo tempo più veloce dello scorso anno qui ad Aragòn: per questo motivo ci aspettavamo un weekend positivo. Purtroppo la caduta nelle FP2 ha frenato questa sua crescita di prestazioni. Così, dopo il Warm Up di questa mattina, abbiamo deciso di non gareggiare, per non peggiorare ulteriormente le condizioni del suo braccio: abbiamo pensato sia stato meglio farlo riposare, senza aumentare la forte infiammazione, così che possa arrivare in Thailandia con una condizione più vicina possibile al 100%.

Per Stefano, invece, è stato un fine settimana caratterizzato dalla tanta voglia di fare, cercando sempre di andare oltre il suo limite. Purtroppo ha pagato questa sua foga con una caduta dopo poche curve: un peccato perché avremmo voluto vederlo protagonista di una delle sue rimonte.

Domani avremo una giornata di test, che crediamo possa essere utile a Stefano, in vista delle prossime gare fuori Europa: è sempre difficile lavorare su una moto durante il weekend di gara, domani avremo modo di concentrarci con calma su quelle che sono le difficoltà che stiamo incontrando”.

GRAN PREMIO MOVISTAR DE ARAGÓN –SUNDAY

The Aragon Grand Prix weekend for the Forward Racing Team ended in an unlucky way.

Despite all possible efforts and determination shown until the end, Isaac Vinales raised the white flag, just before the race: not to further increase the pain at his arm, the Spaniard, along with the team, decided not to race, so as to recover as much as possible for the next race in Thailand.

Stefano Manzi, however, after a good start from the tenth row, made a mistake at turn 4, during the first lap, falling and finishing prematurely what was supposed to be an exciting comeback race.

The next round of the championship will see the Forward Racing Team riders in the new Thai stage for the PTT Thailand Grand Prix, at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram.

Isaac showed his potential in Friday’s FP1 when, despite not being physically at the top, he had immediately improved on his fastest time of last year here in Aragón: for this reason we expected a positive weekend. Unfortunately, the fall in the FP2 slowed down this growth in performance. So, after this morning’s Warm Up, we decided that for how was better not to race, so as not to worsen further the conditions of his arm: we thought it was better to let him rest, without increasing the strong inflammation, so that he can arrive in Thailand with a condition as close as possible to 100%.

For Stefano, on the other hand, it was a weekend characterized by a great desire to do, always trying to go beyond his limit. Unfortunately, he paid off this heat with a crash after a few corners: a shame because we would have liked to have seen him in one of his comebacks.

Tomorrow we will have a day of testing, which we believe will be useful for Stefano, in view of the next races outside Europe: it is always difficult to work on a bike during the race weekend, tomorrow we will be able to focus calmly on what are the difficulties we are facing to”.

Le cause di questa decisione sono che, oltre ai fastidi dovuti ancora all’operazione per la rottura del capitello radiale del braccio destro, avvenuta durante il GP di Silverstone e non ancora guarito al 100%, lo spagnolo ha riportato una lesione alla spalla destra, a causa di una  caduta nelle FP2 di venerdì: tutto questo impedisce a Isaac una guida concentrata e competitiva, soprattutto nei cambi di direzione e in frenata. Per questo motivo si è quindi deciso di rinunciare alla gara odierna, per non infiammare ulteriormente l’arto, e recuperare appieno per la gara in Thailandia.

Forward Racing Team announces that the riders Isaac Viñales will not take part in today’s race at the Motorland Circuit of Aragon.
The reasons of this decision are that, in addition to the noise due to the operation for the rupture of the radial capital of the right arm, which occurred during the GP of Silverstone and has not yet completely healed, the Spaniard has suffered an injury to the right shoulder, due to a fall in the FP2 on Friday: all this prevents Isaac a concentrated and competitive driving, especially in changes of direction and braking. For this reason it was decided to give up today’s race, so as not to further iflammate the arm, and fully recover for the race in Thailand.

Isaac Viñales, rispetto a ieri, è tornato a sentire parecchio dolore al braccio destro, complice la caduta subita ieri nelle FP2: troppo il fastidio al gomito per girare sereno e concentrato, domani proverà a stringere i denti, con la speranza che possa prendere parte alla gara.

Stefano Manzi, invece, nonostante una caduta nelle qualifiche, ha fatto registrare un buon tempo, a solo un secondo dai primi, distacco ragionevole considerati i più di 5000 m della lunga pista spagnola. Tuttavia la penalizzazione attribuitagli a Misano lo vedrà scattare, domani, dalla prima casella della decima fila della griglia di partenza: sarà per lui l’ennesima gara di rincorsa, che senz’altro lo vedrà protagonista.

Questi gli orari di domani: alle 9:10 la sessione di Warm Up, in preparazione alla gara che prenderà il via alle ore 12:20.

It was an uphill Saturday for the Forward Racing Team riders.

Isaac Viñales, compared to yesterday, has returned to feel a lot of pain in his right arm, thanks to the fall of yesterday in the FP2: too much discomfort in the elbow to turn quiet and concentrated, tomorrow will try to clench his teeth, with the hope that he can take part in the race.

Stefano Manzi, on the other hand, despite a fall in qualifying, recorded a good time, just one second from the first, a reasonable gap considered the more than 5000 m of the Spanish track. However, the penalty given to him in Misano will see him start tomorrow from the first place of the tenth row of the grid: it will be yet another come back race for him to run, which will certainly see him as a protagonist.

Tomorrow’s schedule is as follows: at 9:10 the Warm Up session, in preparation for the race that will start at 12:20.

Il Motorland Circuit di Aragon ha dato il benvenuto ai piloti del Forward Racing Team, per la quattordicesima tappa del Campionato del Mondo Moto2.

Stefano Manzi ha utilizzato l’intera giornata di oggi per lavorare sul setting della moto, in vista di domani: nonostante la caduta nelle libere del mattino e il parecchio lavoro ancora da fare insieme al suo team, restano, comunque buone le sensazioni in sella, così come i tempi combinati che lo vedono a poco più di un secondo dalla Top 10.

Stesso lavoro quello effettuato dallo spagnolo Isaac Viñales, che ha, inoltre, provato la resistenza del braccio operato, che lo aveva costretto al forfait a Misano: il dolore è notevolmente diminuito e il pilota riesce a muoversi bene sulla moto, sentendo poco fastidio. Anche per lui la Top 10 dista poco più di un secondo e c’è, quindi ottimismo per le qualifiche di domani.

La giornata di sabato vedrà protagonisti i piloti del Forward Racing Team alle 10:55 per le FP3 e, successivamente, alle ore 15:05 per le prove di qualifica, atte a stabilire la griglia di partenza di domenica.

“E’ stato un inizio di weekend intenso quello di oggi qui ad Aragòn, ma è pur sempre bello tornare in pista dopo le ultime due settimane così movimentate. La notizia positiva viene dalle condizioni fisiche di Isaac, notevolmente migliorate, rispetto a Misano: abbiamo cominciato con pochi giri di pista per lui, per far sì che non sforzasse troppo il braccio. E’ stato, purtroppo, protagonista di una scivolata in FP2 che, però, non ha portato conseguenze: domani, senz’altro, farà meglio.

Stefano, invece, ha avuto un inizio un po’ più sofferto: in entrambe le sessioni, ha riscontrato delle difficoltà in frenata, faticando molto a fermare la moto. GRAN PREMIO MOVISTAR DE ARAGÓN –FRIDAY

The Aragon Motorland Circuit welcomed the Forward Racing Team riders for the fourteenth round of the Moto2 World Championship.

Stefano Manzi used the whole day to work on the setting, with a focus on tomorrow: despite the fall in the morning free practice and a lot of work still to be done with his team, there are good sensations on the bike, as well as the combined times that see him just over a second from the Top 10.

The same work was done by the Spaniard Isaac Viñales, who also tested the resistance of the operated arm, which forced him to forfeit at Misano: the pain is greatly reduced and the rider can move well on the bike, feeling little pain. Even for him the Top 10 is just over a second away and there is optimism for tomorrow’s qualifying.

Saturday will see the Forward Racing Team riders at 10:55 for the FP3 and, later, at 15:05 for the qualifying session, to establish the starting grid of Sunday.

“It was an intense start to the weekend here in Aragón today, but it’s still nice to be back on track after the last two weeks so busy.

The positive news comes from Isaac’s improved physical condition compared to Misano: we started with a few laps for him, so that he didn’t put too much effort into his arm. Unfortunately, he was protagonist of a crash in FP2 which, however, did not have any consequences: tomorrow, of course, he will do better.

Stefano, on the other hand, had a suffered start: in both sessions, he had some difficulties in braking, struggling a lot to stop the bike. The team is still working to solve the problem looking for tomorrow. The spirit is still high and we will all do our best in this weekend still to be lived”.

Si torna finalmente in pista, e a far parlare il cronometro, per il quattordicesimo appuntamento del Mondiale Moto2, presso il Motorland Circuit di Aragon.

Sui 5.077 m del tracciato spagnolo, i piloti del Team Forward scenderanno in pista con i buoni propositi di sempre e tanta voglia di far bene: Stefano Manzi è determinato nel continuare il suo trend positivo dimostrato anche durante il weekend di Misano, su un circuito dove si è sempre sentito a proprio agio.

Isaac Viñales, invece, ha utilizzato i giorni di riposo per recuperare al meglio il post intervento al braccio, che lo ha costretto a fermarsi anche nel GP di San Marino. Quella di Aragon per Isaac è una gara di casa, quindi avrà ulteriori stimoli per dare il meglio di sé, davanti al suo pubblico.

GRAN PREMIO MOVISTAR DE ARAGÓN –MOTORLAND CIRCUIT

It’s finally time to be back to the track, and to make the timekeeper speak, for the fourteenth round of the Moto2 World Championship, at the Motorland Circuit of Aragon.

On the 5,077 m of the Spanish track, the Forward Team riders will be on track with the good aims of always and a great desire to do well: Stefano Manzi is determined to continue his positive trend shown during the weekend in Misano, on a circuit where he has always felt at ease.

Isaac Viñales, on the other hand, used his rest days to recover the best of his post-operation time, which forced him to stop also in the GP of San Marino. The Aragon race for Isaac is an home race, so he will have further motivation to give his best, in front of his crowd of fans.

The Movistar Gran Prix of Aragon will start on Friday, with the first free practice session for the intermediate category set at 10.55 am.

La grave scorrettezza compiuta da Romano Fenati ai danni di Stefano Manzi, durante la gara di Moto2 del Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini che si è svolta sul circuito Marco Simoncelli di Misano Adriatico, avrà ripercussioni anche in futuro. Al di là, infatti, della bandiera nera in gara e della squalifica per due GP comminata dalla Direzione Gara, MV Agusta non intende essere rappresentata da Fenati per il 2019, l’anno che vedrà il ritorno della Casa varesina nelle massime competizioni sportive, in particolare nel Campionato Mondiale Moto2. Sarà perciò rescisso l’accordo tra MV Agusta Reparto Corse Forward Racing Team e il pilota Romano Fenati.

“In anni di sport non ho mai visto un comportamento così pericoloso. Un pilota simile non rappresenta minimamente i valori del nostro marchio. Per questo non vogliamo che sia lui a riportare in pista MV Agusta nel Motomandiale.”

“Dopo lo spiacevole episodio tra Romano Fenati e Stefano Manzi, la squadra ritiene impossibile iniziare la prevista collaborazione con il pilota ascolano per la stagione 2019. Il gesto di Romano Fenati non è compatibile con i valori sportivi del Forward Racing Team e di MV Agusta. Per questo, pur amareggiati, dobbiamo annullare il progetto con Fenati. Il nostro sport è di per sé già molto pericoloso e ogni gesto che aumenta il rischio per i piloti non è tollerabile. Non possiamo accettare un comportamento di questo genere da un nostro futuro pilota.”

MV Agusta and the Forward Racing Team: Fenati will no longer be a part of our project

The serious misconduct by Romano Fenati towards Stefano Manzi during the Moto2 race during the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini which took place at the Circuito Marco Simoncelli di Misano Adriatico will have repercussions for the future, beyond the black flag shown to Fenati, and the two-race ban imposed by Race Direction. MV Agusta will not be represented by Fenati in 2019, the year which will see the return of the Varese factory to the highest level of motorcycle racing, and the Moto2 World Championship. The agreement between MV Agusta Reparto Corse Forward Racing Team and Romano Fenati has been terminated.

“In all my years of watching sport, I have never seen behaviour as dangerous as this. A rider who can act like this can never represent the values of our company, and our brand. For this reason, we do not want him to be the rider with which MV Agusta makes its return to the world championship.”

“After the disgraceful episode between Romano Fenati and Stefano Manzi, it is impossible for the team to maintain its planned collaboration with the rider from Ascoli for the 2019 season. Fenati’s behaviour is incompatible with the sporting values of the Forward Racing Team and of MV Agusta. For this reason, though we bitterly regret it, we are forced to cancel our project with Fenati. Our sport is already extremely dangerous, and any act which increases the risks involved for the riders is intolerable. We cannot accept behaviour of this type from one of our future riders.”

La domenica del Gran Premio di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini ha vissuto parecchi colpi di scena, classici per una corsa così sentita e importante.
Dopo un Warm Up sfruttato per scegliere con quale gomma disputare la gara, Stefano Manzi ha interpretato con determinazione la prima metà di gara, arrivando, con una grande rimonta, fino alla undicesima posizione. Battagliando per la zona punti, con un passo decisamente veloce, il pilota di casa ha dovuto, però, fare i conti con il comportamento antisportivo di un pilota avversario che gli ha compromesso la prestazione, facendogli terminare anzitempo una gara fin lì perfetta.
L’appuntamento è fissato per la prossima tappa ad Aragon, tra due settimane, quando i due piloti del Forward Racing  Team torneranno nuovamente in pista per quattordicesima tappa di Campionato.

E’ un vero peccato finire la gara di casa in questa maniera, anche perché stamattina nel Warm Up avevamo lavorato bene: abbiamo provato le gomme di diversa mescola, scegliendo quella morbida, ed eravamo preparati per una buona partenza. In gara stavo girando abbastanza veloce ed ero in undicesima posizione, poi però, a causa dei vari contatti, la mia corsa è finita prima del previsto, e questo mi è dispiaciuto molto. Ora con la squadra analizzeremo quanto fatto durante il weekend, con lo scopo di fare un ulteriore passo avanti ad Aragon”.

“E’ risaputo che il Gran Premio di Misano, per quanto sentito per la sua importanza, è sempre ricco di colpi di scena. Stefano stava correndo un’ottima gara, con grande grinta e compiendo una buona partenza: tutto quanto perfetto, finché ha avuto un contatto con un pilota, per il quale è finito nella ghiaia, perdendo sei posizioni. Non si è dato per vinto, tornando a battagliare per raggiungere la zona punti, ma purtroppo il comportamento antisportivo di un concorrente ha condizionato la sua gara, facendola terminare anzitempo. E’ un vero peccato vedere un finale di corsa del genere, sia per il grande lavoro svolto dalla squadra, che per la prestazione di Stefano che meritava ben altro. Isaac, invece, ha dovuto alzare bandiera bianca nella giornata di ieri per il forte dolore al gomito operato: speriamo che possa recuperare al meglio in questi dieci giorni che ci dividono da Aragon, così da gareggiare con la giusta condizione fisica. GRAN PREMIO OCTO DI SAN MARINO E DELLA RIVIERA DI RIMINI 2018 – SUNDAY

The Sunday of the Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera di Rimini has experienced several twists, classics for a race so important and felt.
After a Warm Up used to choose with which tyre to dispute the race, Stefano Manzi interpreted with determination the first half of the race, reaching, with a great comeback, up to eleventh position. Fighting for the points zone, with a very fast pace, the home rider had, however, to deal with the anti-sporty behavior of an opponent rider who compromised his performance, making him finish prematurely a race so far perfect.
The appointment is set for the next stage at Aragon, in two weeks, when the two Forward Racing Team’s riders will return on track for fourteenth appointment of the Championship.

“It’s a real shame to finish the home race in this way, also because this morning in the Warm Up we had worked well: we tried tires of different compounds, choosing the soft one, and we were prepared for a good start. In the race I was running pretty fast and I was in eleventh position, but then, because of the various contacts, my race ended earlier than expected, and I was very disappointed. Now with the team we will analyze what we did during the weekend, with the aim of taking another step forward in Aragon”.

“It is well known that the Misano Grand Prix, as much as it is known for its importance, is always full of twists and turns. Stefano was running with a great race, with great determination and making a good start: everything was perfect, until he had a contact with a rider, for whom he ended up in the gravel, losing six positions. He didn’t give up, going back to fight to reach the points zone, but unfortunately the unsportsmanlike behaviour of a competitor conditioned his race, making it finish prematurely. It’s a real shame to see such an end of race, both for the great work done by the team, and for the performance of Stefano who deserved much more. Isaac, on the other hand, had to raise the white flag yesterday because of the strong pain in his elbow: we hope he can recover in the best way in these ten days that separate us from Aragon, so as to compete in the right physical condition. E’ stato un sabato di qualifiche amaro quello di oggi, presso il circuito di Misano Adriatico.
La notizia di maggior rilievo riguarda la decisione di Isaac Viñales, presa dopo un confronto con il Team e i medici, di non prendere parte alla gara di domani, a causa del forte dolore al braccio operato solo tredici giorni fa. Non sono bastate le cure antidolorifiche a permettergli di scendere in pista in condizioni sufficienti da potergli garantire continuità di prestazione, così si è preferito far riposare il pilota spagnolo, per averlo in forma per la gara di Aragon.
Stefano Manzi, dal canto suo, ha faticato, in entrambi i turni odierni, nella ricerca di un setting che potesse permettergli di accorciare il gap dai piloti davanti: domani partirà dall’ottava fila, spinto dal caloroso pubblico di casa.
Si partirà alle ore 09:05 con il Warm Up, a seguire, alle ore 12:20, si spegneranno i semafori della tanto attesa gara.

GRAN PREMIO OCTO DI SAN MARINO E DELLA RIVIERA DI RIMINI 2018 – SATURDAY

It was a bitter qualifying Saturday today, at the Misano Adriatico circuit.
The most important news concerns the decision of Isaac Viñales, taken after a discussion with the team and the doctors, not to take part in the race tomorrow, because of the heavy pain in the arm operated just thirteen days ago. The painkillers were not enough to allow him to be back on track in sufficient conditions to ensure continuity of performance, so it was preferred to rest for the Spanish rider, in order to have him fit for the race in Aragon.
Stefano Manzi, by his side, has struggled in both rounds today, in search of a setting that would allow him to shorten the gap from the top riders: tomorrow will start from the eighth row, powered by the warm home fans crowd.
The start will be at 09:05 with the Warm Up, followed by the race at 12:20, when the traffic lights of the long-awaited race will be turned off.

“t was a difficult day today: in the morning we didn’t get off to a good start with yesterday’s setting that penalised us a lot. In qualifying we improved a little bit, in fact we were faster and we managed to keep a constant pace. It was a shame that we couldn’t take the most from the soft tyre during the qualifying session.. Now we have to decide which tyre to use in tomorrow’s race, whether with a hard or soft compound, and we will do it in the morning’s Warm Up”.

E’ trascorso sotto un caldo sole, contro quelle che erano le previsioni meteo, il venerdì di prove libere del Gran Premio OCTO di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, presso il Misano World Circuit di Misano Adriatico.

Stefano Manzi ha confermato le buone impressioni di Silverstone nel turno del mattino, dove, però, ha portato a termine soltanto sette giri, prima di scivolare in curva 4, concludendo anzitempo quella che, fino a quel momento, si era rivelata una ottima sessione, con tempi vicinissimi ai primi della graduatoria. Nel turno pomeridiano, invece, i giri percorsi dal pilota riminese sono serviti a prendere informazioni sul setting della moto, in vista della gara di domenica.

Isaac Viñales è tornato in sella dopo l’operazione al gomito destro.  Lo spagnolo ha corso entrambi i turni senza che gli venissero somministrati antidolorifici, così da testare la sua reale condizione: il braccio fa ancora male e si lavorerà sulla moto, al fine di facilitargli le condizioni di guida.

Questi gli appuntamenti per la giornata di domani: si parte alle ore 10:55 con le FP3, a seguire, dalle ore 15:05 le Qualifiche Ufficiali.

Per domani abbiamo in programma di fare qualche piccola modifica sul setting della moto, per avere una guida che mi faccia sforzare meno il braccio”.

“Quest’oggi siamo stati fortunati a girare con tempo soleggiato, a differenza di quanto previsto dal meteo. Stefano è partito forte al mattino quando, prima della caduta, stava girando forte, assieme ai più veloci. Nel pomeriggio ha provato una gomma a mescola più morbida, che non gradisce molto, per raccogliere dati per la gara di domenica. Sicuramente già da domani mattina tornerà competitivo. Per quanto riguarda Isaac è da apprezzare il fatto che sia tornato in pista dopo così poco tempo dall’operazione al gomito: oggi ha girato entrambi i turni senza antidolorifici, per testare la sua effettiva condizione. Ha sofferto molto e, per questo motivo, la squadra è al lavoro sulla moto per provare a facilitargli la guida, in particolare nei cambi rapidi di direzione, e permettergli di sforzare il braccio il meno possibile”.

GRAN PREMIO OCTO DI SAN MARINO E DELLA RIVIERA DI RIMINI 2018 – FRIDAY

It’s ended the Friday of free practice session of the OCTO Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera at the Misano World Circuit in Misano Adriatico under a warm sun, against the weather forecast.

Stefano Manzi confirmed Silverstone’s good impressions in the morning session, where, however, he completed only seven laps, before slipping into turn 4, finishing early what, until then, had proved to be a great session, with times very close to the top. In the afternoon session, however, the laps covered by the rider from Rimini were used to get information on the setting of the bike, ahead of Sunday’s race.

Isaac Viñales was back on the bike after his right elbow operation.  The Spaniard ran both sessions without any painkillers, so as to test his real condition: his arm still hurts and we will work on the bike, in order to facilitate his riding conditions.

These are the appointments for tomorrow: we start at 10:55 with the FP3, followed by 15:05 Official Qualifying.

“The day started well, I felt good on the bike and I rode pretty fast, it’s a pity for the crash after only seven laps. In the afternoon we worked on the setting of the bike, looking for Sunday. I am still positive for tomorrow, where we will certainly be competitive”.

I got back on the bike after the crash at Silverstone, my arm didn’t give me any major problems despite the pain and I’m getting back into the feeling with the bike. Tomorrow we plan to make some small changes to the setting of the bike, to have a guide that makes me strain my arm less”.

“Today we were lucky to be able to ride in sunny weather, unlike the weather forecast. Stefano started out strong in the morning when, before the crash, he was riding fast, together with the firsts. In the afternoon he tried a softer compound tyre, which he doesn’t like very much, to collect data for Sunday’s race. He will certainly be competitive again tomorrow morning. About Isaac, it is to be appreciated that he returned to the track after such a short time from the elbow operation: today he did both laps without painkillers, to test his actual condition. He suffered a lot and, for this reason, the team is working on the bike to try to make it easier for him to ride, especially in rapid changes of direction, and allow him to strain his arm as little as possible”.

Archiviato il weekend di corse di Silverstone, con le relative polemiche legate alla clamorosa cancellazione della gara di domenica, tornano a rombare i motori per quella che per il Forward Racing Team è la seconda gara di casa di stagione.

La squadra torna sul circuito dell’amata Riviera Adriatica con buoni presupposti e tanta voglia di disputare un Gran Premio a buoni livelli.

Stefano Manzi non vede l’ora di scendere in pista: il pilota riminese, dopo i progressi registrati nei turni di qualifiche di Silverstone, avrà una marcia in più, forte di una pista che conosce molto bene e dei tifosi che lo inciteranno fino all’ultimo metro di gara.

Torna, invece, in sella Isaac Viñales, dopo l’infortunio al gomito destro: lo spagnolo ha risposto bene all’operazione subita e, già dai turni di venerdì, riprenderà, con la sua squadra, il percorso di conoscenza con la nuova moto, provando a limare il gap che lo separa dalla Top 10, su quello che per lui è un circuito veloce e che gradisce molto.

L’appuntamento è fissato, quindi, per venerdì, dove alle 10:55 prenderà il via il primo turno di prove libere, che darà inizio al tanto atteso weekend di corse riminesi.

After the Silverstone racing weekend, with the all controversy related to the resounding cancellation of the race on Sunday, the engines are back to roar for what for the Forward Racing Team is the second home race of the season.

The team returns to the circuit of the beloved Adriatic Riviera with good conditions and a great desire to dispute a Grand Prix at good levels.

Stefano Manzi is looking forward be back on track: the rider from Rimini, after the progress made in the qualifying rounds at Silverstone, will have a gear up, strong thanks to a track that he knows very well and to the fans who will encourage him until the last meter of race.

Isaac Viñales is back on the bike after his right elbow injury: the Spaniard has responded well to the operation and, already from Friday’s rounds, will resume, with his team, the path of acquaintance with the new bike, trying to close the gap that separates him from the Top 10, on what for him is a fast circuit and that he likes very much.

The appointment is set for Friday, where at 10:55 will start the first round of free practice, which will begin the long-awaited weekend of racing in Rimini.

Il Gran Premio GoPro di Gran Bretagna, presso il circuito di Silverstone, è stato ufficialmente cancellato.
In seguito ad una riunione tra IRTA, DORNA e i piloti di MotoGP, la pista è stata dichiarata non sicura, a causa delle forti piogge.
Nonostante le condizioni di pista complesse, questa mattina Stefano Manzi ha fatto una buona uscita durante il Warm Up, ritrovando la sintonia con la sua Suter MMX2.
Per quanto riguarda lo spagnolo Isaac Vinales, rientrato a Barcellona, si e’ sottoposto all’operazione giàquesta mattina: i medici confermano la buona riuscita della stessa. Isaac avrà bisogno di qualche giorno di convalescenza, ma sarà pronto per scendere in pista a Misano.
I piloti del Forward Racing Team danno appuntamento tra due settimane per il Gran Premio di San Marino e della riviera di Rimini.

GOPRO BRITISH GRAN PRIX 2018 – SUNDAY

The GoPro Grand Prix of Great Britain at Silverstone has been officially cancelled.
After a meeting between IRTA, DORNA and the MotoGP riders, the track was declared unsafe due to heavy rains.
Despite the complex track conditions, this morning Stefano Manzi made a good exit during the Warm Up, regaining feeling with his Suter MMX2.
As for the Spanish Isaac Vinales, who returned to Barcelona, underwent the operation this morning: the doctors confirm the success of the same. Isaac will need a few days of convalescence, but will be ready to be back on track in Misano.
The Forward Racing Team’s riders will meet in two weeks for the Grand Prix of San Marino e della Riviera of Rimini.

Il ventiduenne di Ascoli Piceno sarà uno dei due alfieri che gareggeranno con la nuova MV Agusta F2, moto con la quale il prestigioso marchio varesino tornerà nel Motomondiale, dopo ben 42 anni d’assenza dal palcoscenico iridato.

Fenati si avvicina al mondo delle due ruote nel 2003, quando per la prima volta scende in pista con le minimoto, partecipando a diversi trofei nazionali. Nel 2010 e 2011 partecipa al Campionato Italiano di Velocità dove conclude la sua seconda stagione al secondo posto.

FENATI AS MV AGUSTA FORWARD RACING TEAM RIDER FOR 2019

Forward Team is pleased to announce that Romano Fenati has been hired by the MV Agusta Forward Racing Team to compete in the Moto2 World Championship.

The twenty-two year old from Ascoli Piceno will be one of the two riders who will compete with the new MV Agusta F2, a bike with which the prestigious brand from Varese will return to the MotoGP, after 42 years of absence from the world stage.

Fenati approached the world of two wheels in 2003, when for the first time he took to the track with the mini bikes, participating in several national trophies. In 2010 and 2011 he participated in the Italian Championship where he finished his second season in second place.

His Moto3 debut at the World Championship took place in 2012 and saw him attending 108 races in the Moto3 category, achieving 10 victories and 23 podiums, and taking second place in the general standing in 2017.

In the current season he moves to Moto2, the same category that will see him starring with the colors of MV Agusta Reparto Corse Forward Racing next year.

Romano Fenati is thrilled to be part of the team, sure he can make an excellent contribution to the development of the new bike and give his best to bring the MV Agusta brand back to the top of the world rankings.

Il sabato del Gran Premio di Gran Bretagna, presso il circuito di Silverstone, si è aperto con la brutta notizia dell’infortunio del pilota spagnolo Isaac Viñales, che è stato dichiarato non idoneo a partecipare al proseguo del weekend, per la frattura del capitello radiale del braccio destro: a Isaac tutto il Team augura una pronta guarigione.

Stefano Manzi ha, invece, svolto un buon turno di FP3, dove ha concluso in diciottesima posizione, a soli tre decimi dalla Top 10, e a poco più di un secondo dal primo.

Nelle qualifiche del pomeriggio il riminese ha battagliato, per buona parte del turno, con i piloti di testa, rimanendo costantemente nelle prime dieci posizioni. Soltanto nel finale, al suo rientro in pista con gomma nuova, ha riscontrato delle difficoltà in ingresso di curva, che non gli hanno permesso di migliorare il proprio tempo, che lo fa restare, in ogni caso, a poco più di un secondo dal decimo in griglia.

Confidando in buone condizioni meteo, l’obbiettivo, in ogni caso, non cambia: Manzi è determinato e, con voglia di rivalsa, lotterà per  provare ad entrare in Top 10.

Questi gli orari di domani: si parte con il Warm Up alle ore 10:00 ora locale, mentre i semafori della gara, con 18 giri da disputarsi, si spegneranno alle 14:30 ora locale.

“Sinceramente sono molto amareggiato per questa qualifica: per buona parte del turno ho girato con buoni tempi, battagliando con i primi. Verso la fine, quando sono rientrato con la gomma nuova, per gli ultimi giri, ho avuto delle difficoltà con la moto che, improvvisamente, ha iniziato a chiudersi in ingresso di curva, non permettendomi di migliorare ulteriormente il tempo. Questo proprio non ci voleva! Per la giornata di domani darò, in ogni caso, il 100%, seppur partendo dall’ottava fila, sperando in buone condizioni meteo: proverò a fare una buona partenza, puntando da subito il gruppo dei primi quindici, con l’obbiettivo che resta sempre quello della Top 10”.

“La giornata di oggi non si è sicuramente andata come ci aspettavamo. Innanzitutto siamo molto dispiaciuti, in quanto Isaac è stato dichiarato non idoneo per partecipare sia alle uscite di oggi che, di conseguenza, alla gara di domani, a causa della frattura del capitello radiale del braccio destro. Già domani mattina si sottoporrà all’operazione e gli auguriamo una pronta guarigione per tornare in forma per il Gran Premio di Misano. Sicuramente è un gran peccato perché aveva tanto bisogno di girare con la Suter, essendo per lui una moto nuova, ma speriamo torni performante per la prossima tappa di Campionato. Per quel che riguarda Stefano, sicuramente il ragazzo si aspettava di portare a casa un piazzamento migliore su questa pista, ma con le condizioni del tracciato, sempre incerte e spesso complicate, il lavoro per lui è stato molto difficile oggi.  Le sue qualifiche sono iniziate molto bene, ma nei minuti decisivi, quando ha tentato di spingere di più con la gomma nuova, ha incontrato delle difficoltà, in quanto la moto gli si chiudeva in ingresso curva e, per questo, ha preferito essere prudente e non rischiare ulteriori cadute. Domani dovrà mostrare la sua tenacia e, ancora una volta, fare una buona partenza; in ogni caso i tempi sono vicini e l’obiettivo sarà quello di rimanere nella Top 10, per portare a casa un buon risultato, come è stato quello dell’Austria”.

GOPRO BRITISH GRAN PRIX 2018 – SATURDAY

The Saturday of the Grand Prix of Great Britain, at the Silverstone Circuit, opened with the bad news of the injury of the Spanish rider Isaac Viñales, who was declared unfit to participate in the rest of the weekend, for the fracture of the radial capital of his right arm: to Isaac the whole team wishes a speedy recovery.

Stefano Manzi, on the other hand, did a good round during the FP3, where he finished in eighteenth position, just three tenths from the Top 10, and just over a second from the first.

In the afternoon’s qualifying session, the rider from Rimini battled with the leading group for the most part of the session, remaining consistently in the top ten positions. It was only in the end, when he returned to the track with a new tyre, that he encountered difficulties in entering corners, which did not allow him to improve his time, which meant that he was still just over a second from the tenth on the starting grid.

Trusting in good weather conditions, the goal, in any case, does not change: Manzi is determined and, with a desire for revenge, will struggle to try to get into the Top 10.

Tomorrow’s times are as follows: the Warm Up starts at 10:00 local time, while the traffic lights of the race, with 18 laps to go, will turn off at 14:30 local time.

“I am very disappointed with this qualifying session: I set good times for most of the session and battled with the leaders. Towards the end, when I came back with the new tyre for the last laps, I had some difficulties with the bike that, suddenly, began to close at the entrance of the turns, not allowing me to further improve the time. This is a real pity! For tomorrow I will give 100%, even if starting from the 8th row, hoping for good weather conditions: I will try to make a good start, aiming immediately at the group of the top fifteen, with the goal that always remains that of the Top 10”.

“Today has certainly not gone as we expected. First of all we are very sorry, as Isaac has been declared unfit to participate in both today’s outings and, consequently, tomorrow’s race, because of the fracture of the radial capital of the right arm. Already tomorrow morning he will undergo the operation and we wish him a speedy recovery to get back well for the Grand Prix of Misano. It’s definitely a shame because he needed to ride the Suter, being a new bike for him, but we hope he will be performing again for the next stage of the Championship. About Stefano, he certainly expected to take home a better placing on this track, but with the track conditions always uncertain and often complicated, the work was very difficult for him today.  His qualifying started very well, but in the decisive minutes, when he tried to push harder with the new tyre, he encountered some difficulties, as the bike closed at the entrance tof the turn and, for this reason, he preferred to be careful and not risk further falls. Dopo la violenta caduta di ieri durante le FP1 Isaac Vinales ha riportato una frattura al capitello radiale del braccio destro. Per questo motivo il giovane pilota spagnolo è stato dichiarato non idoneo a partecipare al Gran Premio di Inghilterra a Silverstone. Vinales sta rientrando in giornata a Barcellona per sottoporsi all’intervento chirurgico domani per avere più tempo di recupero possibile ed essere pronto per il prossimo appuntamento di Misano.

“Dopo la caduta di ieri, Vinales ha riportato una frattura della testa del radio, nella parte superiore del braccio destro. La frattura non risulta complessa ne scomposta, ma si è creato un allontanamento tra i due lati della rottura e, con una TAC tridimensionale, i medici scopriranno se questo spazio è aumentato o meno: in quel caso si opterà per l’introduzione di una placca, per ridurre la frattura e permettere al tessuto osseo di ricomporsi. Il periodo di convalescenza durerà circa 5 giorni  e Isaac dovrebbe recuperare al meglio la sensibilità, per poter essere in forma per la gara a Misano tra due settimane”.

Isaac Viñales will not take part in the GoPro Grand Prix of Great Britain 2018 at Silverstone

After the violent crash during yesterday’s FP1 Isaac VInales has suffered a radius fracture in his right elbow. Therefore the young Spanish rider has been declared unfit for the British GP in Silverstone. Vinales will fly back to Barcelona today to undergo surgery already tomorrow, in order to have as much time as possible for his recovery ahead of the grand prix in Misano in two weeks time.

“It is a real shame that my arm bone was fractured in yesterday’s fall.  Now we’re not wasting time, I’ll be back in Spain today to be operated on tomorrow, hoping to be ready for the Misano weekend”.

“After yesterday’s fall, Vinales suffered a fracture of the head of the radio, at the top of his right arm. The fracture is not complex or broken down, but it has created a distance between the two sides of the rupture and, with a three-dimensional RX scan, doctors will find out if this space has increased or not: in that case they will opt for the introduction of a plate, to reduce the fracture and allow the bone tissue to recompose.  The convalescence period will last about 5 days and Isaac should regain the best sensitivity, to be fit for the race in Misano in two weeks.”

La giornata di apertura a Silverstone ci conclude con una 10ª posizione nelle prove libere del pomeriggio per il Forward Racing Team.

Stefano Manzi, dopo il turno del mattino, dove ha testato il nuovo asfalto della pista inglese e ha analizzato, insieme alla squadra, in quali settori della pista migliorare il setting della moto, ha fatto registrare, nelle prove del pomeriggio, un notevole passo in avanti: è suo, infatti, il decimo tempo, ottenuto nei pochi giri effettuati sull’asciutto, prima dell’acquazzone, che ha reso la pista bagnata fino al termine del turno.

Isaac Viñales, invece, nel corso dell’ottavo giro delle FP1, è stato protagonista di una rovinosa caduta, che gli ha fatto concludere anzitempo la sessione mattutina, compromettendone, quasi del tutto, anche quella pomeridiana.

Nelle FP2 lui e la sua squadra hanno dovuto, per forza di cose, dedicarsi a riassemblare e sistemare la sua Suter MMX2, in vista dei turni di domani.

La testa del Team Forward è già rivolta alla giornata di domani, dove alle ore 10:55 ora locale prenderanno il via le FP3, mentre alle ore 15:05 ora locale si scenderà in pista per le Qualifiche Ufficiali.

“Il turno del mattino, dove abbiamo girato completamente con pista asciutta, è andato piuttosto bene, mi resta solo da prendere ancora un po’ di confidenza con l’asfalto nuovo. Nel pomeriggio abbiamo girato principalmente sul bagnato e, in questa condizione, dobbiamo migliorare il set up della moto, per essere pronti, nel caso in cui dovessimo trovare le stesse condizioni della pista, nella giornata di domani”.

“La giornata di oggi non è iniziata del migliore dei modi, nelle FP1 infatti ho avuto una forte caduta e, nel pomeriggio, ho preferito dedicare la sessione agli aggiustamenti necessari, in vista di domani. Nelle FP3 faremo gli ultimi check sul setting della moto, con lo scopo di fare una buona prestazione e portare a casa un buon piazzamento in griglia di partenza”.

“Quello di oggi è stato un venerdì positivo, nonostante il meteo l’abbia fatta principalmente da padrone.

Ci teniamo stretti il buon decimo tempo di Stefano, ottenuto sull’asciutto, nel pomeriggio: il miglioramento rispetto al turno del mattino è significativo, sono davvero contento della prestazione del ragazzo. 

Dispiace, invece, per la caduta di Isaac, che ha compromesso entrambe i turni di oggi: un peccato perché il ragazzo ha bisogno di girare quanto più possibile su quella che per lui è una moto ancora nuova, e, oltre tutto, deve anche fare i conti con un infortunio accorso alla mano destra, durante gli allenamenti settimanali. 

Restiamo, in ogni caso, fiduciosi: sicuramente c’è da lavorare, soprattutto nelle condizioni di pista bagnata, ma sono sicuro che ci faremo trovare pronti per l’importante giornata di domani, avendo come base di partenza la Top 10 conquistata oggi”.

GOPRO BRITISH GRAN PRIX 2018 – FRIDAY

The opening day in Silverstone ended with a top 10 position for the Forward Racing Team.

Stefano Manzi, after the morning session, where he tested the new tarmac of the English track and analyzed, together with the team, in which areas of the track he could further improve the setting of the bike, recorded, in the afternoon practices, a significant step forward: it is his, in fact, the tenth time, obtained in the few laps made on the dry, before the rain, which made the track wet until the end of the round.

Isaac Viñales, on the other hand, suffered a ruinous crash on lap eight of the FP1s, which meant that he had to finish the morning session early, compromising almost entirely his afternoon session as well.

In the FP2s he and his team had to, of course, reassemble and set up his Suter MMX2 for tomorrow’s rounds.

Forward Team’s head is already on the track for tomorrow, when the FP3s will start at 10:55 local time and the Official Qualifying will be held at 15:05 local time.

“The morning session, where we shot completely on a dry track, went quite well and I just have to get a little more confidence in the new asphalt. In the afternoon we lapped mainly in the wet and, in this condition, we have to improve the set-up of the bike, to be ready, in case we will find the same conditions of track, tomorrow”.

“Today didn’t get off to the best possible start as I crashed in the FP1s and preferred to dedicate the afternoon session to making the necessary adjustments ahead of tomorrow. In the FP3s we will do the last checks on the bike’s setting, with the aim of doing a good performance and bringing home a good position on the starting grid”.

“Today’s was a good day, despite the weather having mainly dominated the day.

We keep tight the good tenth time of Stefano, obtained in the dry, in the afternoon: the improvement compared to the morning session is significant, I’m really happy with the performance of the guy. 

I’m sorry, however, for the fall of Isaac, which has compromised both rounds today: a pity because the boy needs to turn as much as possible on what for him is still a new bike, and, in addition, must also deal with an injury rushed to the right hand, during the weekly workouts. 

In any case, we remain confident: there is certainly work to be done, especially in wet conditions, but I am sure that we will be ready for the important day of tomorrow, having as our starting point the Top 10 gained today”.
